What happens when art meets the body, the institution and the culture around it? 🎨
Symposium 3: In the Encounter
From Body to Institution and Cultural Context
Curators, writers and artists come together to explore how art is experienced, from the personal and embodied to the institutional, and how cultural context shapes the way we see, make and share work across East and West.
The conversation is moderated by Yewon Kim, curator and founder of the London-based curatorial platform DAA, joined by Sarah Ji Eun Yoon, curator at the Amorepacific Museum of Art in Seoul, Vivienne Chow, a journalist exploring culture and identity between East and West, and Woo Jin Joo, a London-based multidisciplinary artist.

FOCUS ART FAIR
FOCUS Asian Contemporary Art is a global platform presenting diverse artistic voices from across Asia and the Asian diaspora. FOCUS showcases the evolving landscape of Asian contemporary art while connecting artists, galleries, collectors, and institutions. The edition in London, taking place from 15 – 18 October, is centered around the theme ‘Cultural Dialogue’ with editions in Paris and New York. It explores how different artistic perspectives, shaped by diverse cultures, histories, and experiences, can come together to create new forms of global resonance.
FOCUS aims to build an international ecosystem where art, culture, and institutions create opportunities for new connections across borders and industries.
‘Cultural Dialogue’ reflects this vision, positioning contemporary art as a catalyst for cross-cultural connection, engagement, and transformative collaboration.
