Story Title
The Gentle Obstacles
The Gentle Obstacles
There is an indescribable distance between myself and my surroundings.
There is an indescribable distance between myself and my surroundings—not a conflict, but a gentle and continuous gap. The space is clear and everything works normally, but I never feel fully part of it.
This body of work is not about painting a specific place. I care more about how the act of looking is delayed and blocked. The buildings and light seem to show a path in, but overlapping shapes and paused light leave the path incomplete. I don't try to tell a clear story. These works are not about arriving, but about staying; not about a final choice, but about keeping the hesitation before making a decision.
The "obstacles" here are not strong or forceful. They are soft, reasonable, and even friendly—which makes them even harder to notice and cross. These gentle obstacles do not stop you from looking, but they make you hesitate, making you aware of where you stand and feel the distance again.
The differences between the works are just different angles of looking at the same topic. What connects them is the feeling of "having seen it, but still not belonging to it." I don't try to fix a final direction for my work. I only care about staying honest in uncertainty and letting the distance stay. These works are not answers, but a hesitation left behind.
